Keeping a business facility looking great is a really involved process. There are lots of tasks that have to be performed that aren’t generally part of the normal household cleaning routine. For example: stripping and waxing the floors.
What is stripping and waxing a floor?
In the commercial setting, floors are covered with layers of protective wax that keeps the surface of the floor from being stained or damaged. This wax keeps dirt, grease, and grime from being ground into the floor. It’s long lasting and can be cleaned with regular mopping. However, over the course of time, the wax absorbs so much damage that it starts to look dirty and tired.
When this happens, a commercial cleaning company is hired to strip and wax the floors. Stripping the floors is accomplished through the use of a special product that removes the layers of old wax. New wax is applied and then the floor is buffed to a lovely shine.
A freshly stripped and waxed floor is the gold standard in the commercial business setting.
How often does the typical business need the floors stripped and waxed?
As a Dorchester commercial cleaning company, we can tell you there’s no such thing as the typical business. Determining how often the floors need to be stripped and waxed depends on how busy your facility is and how much foot traffic your floors receive. In an extremely busy facility, we will strip and wax the floors monthly. Moderately busy facilities have the floors stripped and waxed quarterly, and for everyone else, having the floors stripped and waxed every six months is generally adequate.
Having the floors stripped and waxed can be an additional service performed as part of your regular janitorial services contract. Floor care of all types, including stripping and waxing the floors and carpet cleaning, is also available on an as-needed basis.
